 2015-2016 cohort

Welcome to our final newsletter!

Year 2 worked really hard last term, preparing for their Key Stage 1 SATs. They should all be very proud of themselves - I know I am proud of them.

Our last topic in Year 2 is called 'Bounce!'  We are learning about different sports and the importance of exercise. We are trying out and designing new games. The children have had great fun with bubbles, balls and balloons.

We have continued to work hard in our writing. The children have been inventing their own games using marbles or balloons, and writing clear step by step instructions and rules for them. They have also been using lots of adjectives, adverbs and similes to write some lovely descriptive poetry about bubbles.

In maths we have been focusing on developing our mental maths skills - practising our 2, 5 and 10 times tables, and also counting in 3s. Encouraging your child to learn their times tables over the summer, and to become secure with number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 for example, will help in preparing them for their work in Year 3!

In our last RE topic of the year we are learning about how the Church was born. We have been focusing on the role of the disciples after Jesus had left them. This week we learned the story of Peter's escape from prison.

I would like to thank you all for your support this year. I hope the children will continue to work hard and enjoy their time in Year 3.
